Vicious Snake

Insecurity shakes the doors of the spirit,
To a vicious snake which consumes like fire,
It brings with it a plethora of infernal thoughts,
Which start manifesting in the spirit’s desire.

Suspicion, mistrust and hatred come along,
With the intrusion of this vicious foe,
This destructive energy rips apart the spirit,
Disrupting its harmonious energy flow.

This vicious snake poisons the mind,
Tying it into chains of guilt and rage,
It enslaves the spirit with a negative energy,
Trapping it in a virtual annihilating cage.

It extends its grip to damage the aura around,
Transforming into conflicts, revenge and disputes,
Overpowering a man’s rational thinking,
It allows the vicious snake to succeed in its pursuits.

Yet this vicious snake can be controlled,
Tamed and transformed in zeal to aspire,
Rather than allowing it to convert into envy,
It can be reshaped into a constructive desire.

A few lines from my poem “Streets of Silence”. The poem describes the eternal peace and silence one experiences when he/she reaches a higher state of consciousness. It urges to uplift the soul, to feel the eternal beauty and bliss of nature and to experience, discover and explore these streets of silence.

“….I am not lost or perplexed,
I am completely extricated,
No longer are these worldly complexities,
To me in any way related….”

The Poem talks about the spiritual journey of a man who wants to attain salvation, who has elevated his soul to a state where “worldly” and “material” things no longer relate to him. Now he is moving towards his ultimate goal of uniting his soul with the universal energy. He doesn’t fear death but wants to embrace it when it comes, uplifting his soul to a higher state. He understands and accepts the ultimate truth of constant “transformation” which every man is bound to face both during his life and even after that.

Anarchy In Democracy

A hungry, poor man kills another man,
for a small amount of hundred rupees,
while politicians wear garlands worth crores,
on the occasion of their party’s silver jubilee’s.

A man doesn’t even get food once in day,
while tons of wheat is rotting somewhere,
the prices of commodities are rising everyday,
and the helpless common man can only stare.

They are constructing new gigantic buildings,
for hosting the grand commonwealth games,
in a city where thousands of people are homeless,
for the government they are mere ‘names’.

They hoard millions in their swiss accounts,
while a man can now not even afford milk,
thousands die without clothing in winter,
while politicians drape themselves in silk.

millions are spend for eradicating poverty,
yet the poor man never gets his share,
illiteracy, unemployment, poverty are rising,
yet the nonchalant government doesn’t care.

Eternal Union

After my mortal material being,
dissolved in this earth,
my invincible eternal soul arose,
leading to my spiritual rebirth

I live on a different plane now,
i don’t see the religion defined ‘GOD’,
yet people continue to fight below,
few have views which are broad,

i am moving closer to self realization,
towards that energy, that force,
i ponder whether i will be reborn,
or will i be absorbed in this life source,

as i move closer, my doubts are cleared,
i am now aware of my previous manifestations,
my previous material birth reminds me,
of some unfulfilled desires and expectations,

yet now i find that I am free of them,
i only search for my soul mate,
who has shared her life with me,
in all my births, in each and every state

I can feel the energy she exudes,
my union with her ignites a fiery fire,
my soul is no longer incomplete,
there is no unfulfilled, unattained desire

we embark on a new journey now,
we just traverse in this timeless space,
unbound, free, eternal, immortal,
no more manifestations we embrace

1. Money has become the sole important thing in people’s lives. A man is no longer judged by his nature or personality but by his status and by the money he possesses. The car you step out of, the clothes you wear, the cell phone you carry and the area you live in are some of the factors which are assessed before people interact with you.

2. What makes you ‘hep’, ‘cool’, ‘popular’ and ‘modern’ is your rudeness, your talent of abusing, aggressiveness, your ability to humiliate other people who belong to the lower strata’s of the society and your capacity of taking pleasure in other’s pain and problems.

3. The new generation believes in abusing, violence, bitching, back biting, stabbing people in the back, breaking trust, infidelity and cruelty. Show’s like ‘roadies’ and ‘splitsvilla’ on MTV are glaring examples of this trend. The more degraded you are the better it is.

4. Another very popular trend is the commercialization of the institution of marriage. Its no longer a relationship between a man and a woman who love each other and start a family but is more of a business deal now. The less good looking a girl is, more is the amount of money that has to be spent on her marriage. The money spent by the parents on the education of their son which has produced a well qualified and settled boy, is to be extracted from the girl who is getting the opportunity of marrying him. Arranged marriages are no longer a bond between two families but a business deal, where how much money you’re willing to spend is what determines your position in the arena of the amazingly commercialized institution of marriage.

5. The Indian youth has coined a new way of life, where no matter whom they maybe be involved with romantically, they enter an arranged marriage, which can enhance their economic status. However I cannot forget to mention the exceptions, people who marry the ones they love, resulting in inter-caste, inter-religious marriages which are still not appreciated even in the highly ‘educated’ ‘enlightened’ urban society.

6. Marriage has become a source of income for some parents who had the privilege of giving birth to a boy. They marry, remarry and again remarry, a number of times to earn money. However its not limited to the boys but there are some intelligent parents who even use girls as a source of income, they marry and then put false allegations of dowry, domestic violence or rape and extract money from the groom’s side.

7. With the passage of time, the importance of caste, religion and orthodox rituals should have faded, however in the Indian society on the contrary its increased tremendously. Dowry, female foeticide, preference for male child, discrimination between boys and girls, blind faith in senseless rituals are some trends which are again surfacing even in the ‘educated’ ‘enlightened’ urban society.

I don’t know why, but this society instead of progressing is degrading day by day. I am not an orthodox, conservative human being. But i just want to know in what way are these trends ‘modern’ and ‘liberal’?
I just want to know how humiliating and hurting others is looked upon as a talent? how is the commercialization of the sacred institution of marriage justified? how are these hollow traditions of casteism, dowry, female foeticide, domestic violence Right? I want to know why the basic human right of each man to get respect is violated to every bit in this shameless society? why people wear masks of good human being when deep down they are selfish, cruel, heartless men? why being a woman in this society is a challenge in itself? what kind of educated and enlightened society is this?

This coming year lets take a vow,
that we’ll spread our love all around,
lets heal with our loving touch,
let not anyone fall to the ground
lets hold everyone in our warm embrace,
lets once again start,
a new journey with this sunshine,
a journey which connects all hearts
lets try to rise above our ego,
lets try to understand,
that man is the epitome of love,
lets lend our helping hand,
there is inside us a faint light,
let us ignite it tonight,
let this vibrant light shine within each one,
lets make this world bright,
lets make ourselves better human beings,
lets spread this lovely feeling,
lets hold each others hands,
lets feel this process of healing.

My marriage

You wanted more money,
my parents had none,
they had spent on my marriage,
all that they had earned,
yet your greed wasn’t satisfied,
my parents had tried,
but your demands had no end,
in this cruel, heartless world,
on your gender your life depends,
you wanted a son,
but i had only two daughters,
nothing could be done,
i could not bear any more children,
i said stop and listen,
but you never heard my painful scream,
for every girl marriage is a dream,
but mine was a nightmare,
that killed my soul,
you wanted a new wife,
who could give you a boy,
you wanted to end my life,
but i had two girls,
i couldn’t go leaving them behind,
my father died,
he was the one on whom i had relied,
now i had no other way,
i couldn’t die alone,
on my heart i kept a stone,
with my very own hands,
i poisoned my children,
i killed my already dead soul,
now just tell me oh god!,
what was my fault?
just that i was born a girl?
i got only pain in this world,
tell me when will this oppression end?
aren’t you ashamed of your own creation?
of these men’s senseless exploitation?

Time

Time has no limit,
do we know where it ends?
Today a new one breathes,
and his new life begins,
but some where else someone fights,
to live, to breathe, to survive,
but finally he loses, he dies,
his soul now wanders in the universe,
to come back he may or may not averse,
But the transformation of time,
he cannot escape,
time gives us new shapes,
we exist as humans on earth,
we traverse as souls,
we stay as memories in hearts,
and one day we again start,
in the form of a new life we begin,
this time, finite or infinite,
we only know the days and nights,
its only the transformation,
that i can understand,
yet there are different notions,
of this thing called time.

Often we find ourselves on paths we always wanted to avoid, why does fate take such turns? why does destiny often put us in situations we never wanted to be in? i have often wondered about my life, about what i want and what i don’t want, but then time throws me in a roller coaster, facing exactly the things i was trying to avoid. What should we do? worry about things in future? or not to worry about things in future? live in the present? live in the past? or live in the future? They all say forget the past, enjoy the present and think about the future. But in what proportion do we have to exercise this advice?
Some tend to stay in the past for a long time, its very difficult for them to forget the past. The greater your capacity to love, the more sensitive you are and the more hurt you feel when people break your trust. You can’t heal, i don’t say that you don’t want to heal but the truth is you can’t heal so easily.Sensitive people take a long time to heal, they carry memories in their mind, they attach things, people and places with their feelings, hence its difficult for them to heal their heart if it has been hurt. They may lapse into depression, permanent or temporary, they may become weak and stay weak and vulnerable for the rest of their lives. But some sensitive people feel hurt and fall low, but then they rise again, stronger but still vulnerable for they have a heart which can be easily hurt.

Some people forget the past, each day is a new day for them. They live in the present situation, even if there are problems, they forget and divert their minds to other things. They don’t worry about the future, they don’t care what life will bring tomorrow. They seem cold or indifferent to those who expect care from them, but appear jolly and fun-loving to others who meet them but don’t know them closely. However people differ some jolly people can be caring, i don’t reject that fact. but its my close observation of people which makes me conclude this.

However there are some people who spend most of their time pondering about their future, they don’t live the present moment but always worry about future, they don’t spend but hoard for future and never have time to enjoy what they have earned and saved. Such people often become skeptical or pessimistic about things and keep worrying about what will happen to them in future.
I have discussed different characteristics of different people. But the question now arises what is the best way of dealing with life?

I feel one should learn from the past. Even though the same situations effect different people differently, each man should make an effort to forget the past, for it is very difficult for sensitive people like me, but still an effort can make a lot of difference. Always make yourself a stronger person and try to live in the moment, enjoy the present moment to the fullest, don’t be scared of being upset or try to suppress your sadness, cry your heart out when you’re hurt, hold someone you love close to you and never again cry for the same thing. Don’t spend your whole day worrying about the future for you have neither knowledge nor control over the circumstances that life will throw on you. Lying in your bed at night before going to sleep, think about what you did today, what you could improve or rectify and think about the day that has to come, hoping that it would be a nice and pleasant part of your journey on this earth. Hope that the hard parts of your life make you stronger and the good parts make you happier in your life. Carry the happy memories with you and let the painful memories fade with time.
